Gippsland 1The Asset Management Workshop in Gippsland was organised by the School of Science, Engineering and Information Technology’s Resources Engineering and Technology Group and supported by the Gippsland Chapter of the Asset Management Council (AMCouncil) and Engineering Network Gippsland (ENG) on Tuesday 11th Dec from 3pm to 5pm. This workshop had 30 registered delegates from industry, professional bodies and FedUni and feedback received from delegates was outstanding.

Presenters were Dr. Gopi Chattopadhyay, Post Graduate programme coordinator for Maintenance and Reliability Engineering programmes, Federation University Australia on Risk based decision-making in maintenance and reliability engineering for reducing costs and enhancing asset performance and Mr. Tom Carpenter, CEO, IQ-AM and Director of the Asset Management Council on the status of the work of TC251 including the release of the revised ISO 55002, progress on ISO 55010 (Finance) and ISO 55011 (Public Policy) and the planned future work along with an update on the work of the Asset Management Body of Knowledge (AMBoK) team.

An industry panel session discussed issues and challenges of regional Australia related to asset management and future needs. The panel included the workshop speakers along with local Industry leaders including Dr. Nazrul Islam from Gippsland Water, Mr. Sahan Kumarasinghe from Australian Paper who is doing Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Post Graduate Programme in Federation University Australia, Mr. Ian Newnham from GHD, Mr. Ray Beebe from AM Council Gippsland Chapter and Mr. Brendan Wilkinson from Engineering Network Gippsland (ENG) and Australian Paper.

Gopinath Chattopadhyay, Chair of Asset Management Council, Gippsland Chapter, welcomed delegates, introduced presenters and facilitated the panel session. In closing of the event, Gopinath Chattopadhyay thanked the University for providing the venue and supporting this event along with the Asset Management Council, University staff including Ms Annette O'Shea, Marketing and IT support team, all presenters, delegates and supporting industries and many other for their valuable contribution in making this event a great success.
