On the 23 and 24 October 2010, the Asset Management Council held an Exchange Weekend, bringing together the Asset Management Board members, Chapter Chairs or Chapter representatives, and members of the Technical Development Team. The Exchange Weekend, which was held on the Gold Coast, was structured to meet the following objectives:
-
To exchange information
- To help shape the future of the Asset Management Council
- To ensure appropriate governance
- To plan and prepare charters and project/action plans
- To issue communiqués for members and stakeholders
The Asset Management Council is a member-driven and focussed organisation; therefore the guidance that is provided by our members at these Exchange Weekends is important input into the strategic direction for the Asset Management Council. I would like to thank all individuals who gave up their personal time to attend the Exchange Weekend and I am pleased to say by the end of the weekend, we achieved all the objectives – click here to read the members’ communiqués.
The Exchange Weekend discussions have been recorded and feedback from these sessions will be formally reported to the Board for incorporation into the strategic plan. By the end of 2010, the Asset Management Council will release its strategic plan to members; watch this space for an update in the next month.
We are still interested in hearing from those members who would like to participate in strategic decision making and networking opportunities by joining one of our subcommittees that cover the overarching business activities the Asset Management Council provides. Send us an email at info@amcouncil.com.au and register your interest today.
On Friday 29 October 2010, the Asset Management Council held its first Training Intensive on Asset Management Plans (AMP). The Training Intensive covered how an AMP should directly support the requirements of the Business Plan, and also covered how the content of the AMP should both articulate the required asset outputs and support the achievement of those outputs. As a participant in the Training Intensive, I was delighted to see professionals from mining, water, power, roads and Government who travelled from QLD, NSW, SA, VIC and from overseas to attend the event.
We have been inundated with requests to hold another Training Intensive on AMP and subsequently have organised for this to be held in Sydney on Friday 26 November 2010. Plans are underway to roll the Training Intensive out across Australia in 2011. For further information, contact training@amcouncil.com.au.
