Leading energy and infrastructure company, Jemena has announced its aim to achieve zero net emissions by 2050. Jemena is already working on initiatives such as the Western Sydney Green Gas project which will produce hydrogen for use in residential, storage and transport settings in late 2021.

The announcement is in line with the company’s report, 2020 Sustainability Report: Adapting to Change. The report and accompanying recent announcement highlight’s the business’s objectives to rise to meet challenges faced by the pandemic and climate disasters while continuing to deliver clean, sustainable energy services and solutions to its customers1.

Throughout the pandemic, Jemena kept line-of-sight on its long-term focus on adapting to Australia’s energy future and implemented key business strategies in the nation. Included in the report is Jemena’s first waste-to-energy project which, when operational, will see more than 6000 homes and businesses use biomethane—a renewable green gas—in homes for cooking, heating and hot water2.

Asset management is a holistic strategy that ought to flow holistically through all aspects of the business. Jemena, as one of the Asset Management Council’s partner members, is proving adept at pivoting while maintaining a focus on building value for the enterprise.
