The Asset Management Council is organising a site tour to view the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain (HESC) pilot project on Tuesday 13th September 2022.
Participants will learn about the HESC pilot key elements:
- clean liquid hydrogen extracted from Latrobe Valley coal and a mixture of biomass at a newly constructed plat located at AGL’s Ly Yang Complex through gasification and refining
- hydrogen gas transported by truck to a liquification and loading terminal at the Port of Hastings
- where the hydrogen gas is liquified and then loaded on to a specially designed marine carrier and shipped to Japan

The site tour bus will leave Melbourne CBD at 7:30am and return to Melbourne 5:00pm. Indicative timings for the day are:
07:30 Departure from Melbourne
10:00 – 10:30am Visit Miners Lookout, Loy Lang
10:30 Travel to AGL Loy Lang
10:45 – 12:30 Group on site at AGL
12:30 Travel to lunch stop
13:00 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 Travel to Port of Hastings
14:30 Onsite visit Port of Hastings
15:30 Depart Hastings for Melbourne
17:00 Finish in Melbourne
There are limited seats available on the bus.
There will be opportunity to stop at a roadside café to purchase lunch or please bring your own. Comfortable sturdy footwear is recommended. All safety PPE will be supplied on site.
Cost to join the tour is $50 per person to assist in covering the cost of bus hire.
