Last Wednesday evening, our Asset Management Council Sydney Chapter hosted an insightful session led by guest speaker Jim Kennedy. The discussion centred on the delicate balance between cost, risk, and performance that asset managers must navigate.

Jim emphasized the challenge of managing these three interdependent factors, particularly when budget cuts come into play. While cost and performance are easily quantifiable, risk often remains elusive—until it’s too late. Through a detailed exploration, Jim highlighted the critical role of a defensible preventive maintenance program as a cornerstone of effective asset management.

Attendees gained valuable insights into the importance of protecting budgets by justifying every expenditure line item, and understanding how the frequency of tasks can make or break the desired performance outcomes.

A big thank you to Jim Kennedy for sharing his expertise, and to everyone who joined us for this thought-provoking session!
