The AMCouncil Perth Chapter hosted an insightful technical event last night, delving into the ways asset management is addressing climate change across various industries. The event brought together professionals and Young Asset Management Practitioners to explore diverse perspectives on how different sectors are tackling this critical global issue.
We were privileged to hear from three exceptional speakers. Danielle Higgs, Manager of Asset Management System & Risk at Water Corporation, kicked off the session with a presentation on how climate change is already affecting water services across Western Australia. She highlighted the Water Corporation’s proactive steps in assessing climate risks and enhancing contingency plans to ensure future water service resilience.
Cristina Vulpe, Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia, provided a fascinating look at industry-sponsored research tackling the impacts of climate change on infrastructure. She discussed multi-million-dollar projects that aim to unlock new knowledge in designing and maintaining safe and resilient infrastructure in a changing climate.
The final presentation came from Adam Rotapel, Manager at KPMG and Chair of the AMCouncil Perth Chapter. Adam discussed the consulting sector’s critical role in helping asset-intensive organisations address climate change risks. His talk emphasized the importance of investment in climate resilience measures to ensure acceptable levels of service are maintained into the future.
The event concluded with a speed networking session, where attendees had the opportunity to connect with peers and industry leaders. Many thanks to Water Corporation for sponsoring the event and supporting these important discussions.
We’d also like to thank Francois Joubert and Gilda de Sousa for capturing the evening with their fantastic photography. Stay tuned for more upcoming events from the Perth Chapter!
