The National Seminar was held in Sydney on Monday 25th November; around 130 attendees came to the seminar from a variety of industries. The passion for the ISO 5500X topic from both presenters and attendees was obvious. The seminar had a number of presenters
- Sally Nugent introduced the seminar talked about the background to ISO. The AM Council Landscape and possible implications for organisations;
- Dave Daines, who discussed decision making criteria, thinking, principles, balance – cost, risk, performance and the How;
- Paul Agar, who presented a case study on how to align your systems, including your asset management plans to ISO 55001;
- Jennifer Edmonds, who talked about supporting your people through the alignment of ISO 5500X;
- Mike McGrath, who presented a case study about the benefits, commitment and to change, and how stakeholders can leverage off ISO;
- Daniel Masters and Michael Killeen, who presented the implementation tools and frameworks for ISO 55001; and
- To finish the day, Peter Kohler, Jan Schipper, and William Wachsmann, a panel discussion with questions arising from the day’s presentations and debate.
The Asset Management Council is producing a guide to accompany the seminar. This guide will help asset management practitioners understand the implications of ISO 55001. It is designed to provide clarity on the scope of the ISO 5500X suite of standards and assist with the interpretation of requirements of the standards, among other thing. It is currently in draft form, but will be formally released in January 2014.
