The purpose of the Maintenance Framework is to develop and promote a common understanding of the role and value of maintenance, and how it contributes to the delivery of business outcomes. Going into more detail than, and beyond the subject of Maintenance Delivery from the Asset Management Landscape, the Maintenance Framework provides information on:

  • The discipline of maintenance and its management, including its role in asset management at all stages of asset life;
  • Maintenance principles, subjects, and terminology; and
  • Relevant international standards.

Asset Management Trends

In 2020, the world was surprised and ill-prepared by the coronavirus pandemic. Asset management, which at its core involves mitigating risk, stood poised with key guidelines that proved helpful in many countries’ recovery phase. From there, we can see some upcoming trends in asset management for 2021 as researched by Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

  • Internet of Things (IoT)

This year, it will be critical for businesses to better leverage the use of IoT. With many employees predicted to continue working from home into at least the first half of 2021, the IoT will help keep staff connected and engaged, productive and accountable. Also, intelligent systems, once implemented will help reduce overall costs to the business and, importantly, will transform your maintenance practices from reactive to proactive.

Doing the Dirty Work: Upgrading Sewerage Systems

Upgrading Sewerage SystemsMost often, maintenance and upgrade work is dirty work.

In 2020, Coliban Water completed possibly the dirtiest of upgrades. The Heathcote Sewer Scheme Project was designed to provide reticulated sewerage services to properties still using septic tanks. Residents and business owners in the Heathcote area now have a safer and more environmentally friendly way to manage wastewater1.

GFMAM Communique November 2020
