A new purpose-built rail facility in Kangy Angy, NSW, is nearing completion. The rail facility will support the New Intercity Fleet trains delivered by TransportNSW that will service passengers travelling from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, Blue Mountains and the South Coast.
The multi-million dollar Kangy Angy rail facility will be operated by UGL Rail who will service and maintain the New Intercity Fleet trains. The 500,000 square metre site boasts six kilometres of electrified railway, with seven tracks at its widest point. Other key features include:

What role does innovation play in the maintenance and reliability of assets?
The methods an enterprise uses for the maintenance of their assets can often be those that are tried and tested. Management, stakeholders and asset operators are all comfortable with conventional maintenance practices, and the reliability of said asset can be so dependable that consideration of a new, innovative technique is seen as unnecessary.

In February 2020, the coronial inquest findings into the tragedy on Dreamworld’s Thunder River Rapids Ride (TRRR) were released to the public. Around that time, the Asset Management Council published a short precis of the report, which, if you’re interested, can be found here. The coroner’s findings highlights the crucial role maintenance plays in asset management and the overall landscape of a business.
In this post, we’ll pull out some learnings on the importance of maintenance, based on the findings in the report (in no particular order).
