A small town with a big name opened a new rail freight terminal in early December 2019. In the northern region of Victoria, Ultima, with a population of 174 at the 2016 census, has welcomed the upgrade of the Manangatang rail line.
The Qube Ultima Intermodal Terminal currently receives two trains each week, but it is expected to increase to three or four trains per week. The train service will take up to 4,000 trucks from Victorian roads each year.

Construction is at flying pace at Brisbane Airport, with a new milestone reached earlier in December: the completion of the concrete taxiways for the new runway.
For an infrastructure project of this size, planning and preparation is critical. Site preparation on the Brisbane River delta began more than five years ago, with land clearing, and consolidating the soil with sand, a crucial element as the soggy site had the consistency of toothpaste1.

On November 12th 1919, two Adelaide brothers, Keith and Ross Smith, made history when they flew from London to Darwin in the Great Air Race, in a Vickers Vimy WWI Bomber. Telegrams sent at each stop seized the interest of the nation; the excitement sorely needed to balm the woes of the recent Great War. The Smith brothers won the race, arriving in Darwin on December 10, 1919, to cheers from a crowd of over 1500 people.

The Bruce Highway is the gateway to northern Queensland, so you don’t need to live in the state to have experienced sitting in heavy traffic, stuck on your way to the family holiday of your dreams. The widening of the Bruce Highway is both long overdue and welcomed by Australians and tourists.

Melbourne’s underground transport network is a creeping network. For those of us above-ground, we take little notice that, when standing in the CBD, there is so much going on beneath the surface. Because we give nary a second thought to the network underfoot, equally forgivable is the fact that most of us probably don’t know the half of what is involved with tunnelling itself.
So, is there more to making a tunnel than burrowing? You betcha there is!
