The Asset Management Council is a Technical Society of Engineers Australia. With over 100,000 members embracing all disciplines of the engineering team, Engineers Australia is the largest and most diverse professional body for engineers in Australia. Engineers Australia’s Technical Societies provide an important and integral link between the profession and specific areas of technical practice.

The World Partners in Asset Management was formed between five international, not-for-profit organisations to provide industry certification for Asset Management Assessors. The certification will assure the quality of assessors and confirm their knowledge and comprehension in asset management systems. The five not-for-profit organisations are as follows: ABRAMAN-Brazilian Maintenance and Asset Management Association, SMRP-Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (USA), PEMAC-Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada, the Asset Management Council (Australia), and IFRAMI-the French Institute of Asset Management and Infrastructure.

 

 GFMAMP1 1005 The Asset Management Council is a founding member of the GFMAM (Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management) – an association of professional maintenance and asset management societies formed for the purpose of knowledge creation and sharing and for information exchange among member societies. GFMAM member organisations inlcude: AM Council – Australia; ABRAMAN – Brazil; EFNMS – Europe; FIM – South America; GSMP – Arabian Gulf Region; IAM – UK; IFRAMI – France; PEMAC – Canada; SAAMA – South Africa; and SMRP – USA.

Call for Nominations to the AMCouncil Board of Directors 2023

In accordance with Section 31 of its Constitution, an election is to be held for the Board of Directors of the Asset Management Council, for the term April 2023 – APril 2026.  One member of the current Board of Directors is to retire at the AMCouncil 2022 Annual General Meeting and is eligible to stand for re-election for the ensuing three-year term.

All financial members of the AMCouncil are eligible to stand for election.

NABERS Embodied Emissions Public Consultation

NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System) has developed and published a consultation paper containing 10 proposals outlining how a rating tool would measure, verify and compare embodied emissions in new buildings and major refurbishments, in their effort to reduce embodied emissions in Australia’s commercial building stock, and are seeking feedback via an online survey. Cyber Security & Asset Management Standards in the Australian Mining and Minerals Industry

Survey invitation – a study to expand awareness and promote best practice

Highly sophisticated cyber-attacks are proliferating at an alarming pace worldwide, yet some industries are exposed to higher risks than others. The nature of the mining industry, for instance, enhances the magnitude of risk as a cyber-attack could easily result in the loss of life.

Inclusion and Diversity in Asset Management Study – Call for Expressions of Interest

The AM Council is undertaking a study with the aim to identify quantifiable impacts of inclusion and diversity across a range of asset management domains.

We are seeking expressions from both, organisations willing to transparently participate in the study by providing a range of case studies of varied success, and suitably qualified persons to form an enthusiastic study team.

Take the Global Infrastructure Resilient Survey 

CDRI and University of Oxford invite you to take the Global Infrastructure Resilience Survey.  CAMA Exam Question Workshop Project

CAMAMelbourne chapter members are invited to register and participate in a workshop with the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) to develop new questions for the Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) examination. To be facilitated by Sally Nugent, the workshop will be held over a two hour period at Engineers Australia, Melbourne, on Thursday 12, October, 2017.

Participation in the workshop will have a direct impact on your continuing professional development (CPD). Each question developed by an individual qualifies for a claim of eight CPD hours. Registration is very important as there will be some pre-work for attendees to ensure that they are warmed up to the question writing approach and targets for the workshop.

Paper Indexing Project

 As of 1st January, 2018, the Asset Management Council will have a new interactive online members-only zone interface on our website and an updated search facility within the knowledge bank.

We are calling for volunteers to help us index our current database of technical papers. It will involve reading through papers, defining key words with regards to the content and linking it to one of our defined AMCouncil models, criteria of which will be provided. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your experience and professional knowledge and to earn valuable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours while you are at it.

 Executive Director, Global Asset Management. Danny drives the asset management strategy of the Australian and global infrastructure funds. Danny has wide industry and senior management experience across a range of infrastructure sectors. He previously worked as the Director of the SA Health Partnership, the single purpose vehicle established by Leighton Contractors, Spotless and Hansen Yuncken to deliver the New Royal Adelaide Hospital PPP. Prior to this, Danny held a number of senior management roles including General Manager, CityLink and Victoria for Transurban Group; CFO, COO and Company Secretary for Axiom Energy Limited; Finance Director of Logistics for Linfox Asia Pacific; and Finance Director and Company Secretary for General Mills.

Scott heads the SAP Energy and Natural Resources team in Australia and New Zealand. He has worked with ERP and Asset Management solutions for 20 years with leading Utility companies in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe. Ian Maxted

 Ian is an experienced CEO / EGM with a background in the engineering and property sectors, with particular exposure to large scale operations and maintenance services and infrastructure projects.

He comes to the Asset Management Council Board as the representative for AM Council Partnering Organisation Transfield Services, where he is currently Chief Development Officer.

 


 

  Kristian Mead, NSW Treasury

KristianMead 2As the primary lead on the Total Asset Management Policy reform process, Kristian is responsible for policy reform aimed at building stronger asset management across the sector. Kristian has a degree in Economics, a Masters in Public Administration and is certified PRINCE2 Practitioner. He has a strong background in infrastructure strategy, capital Expenditure planning and reporting, procurement policy, government property, capital works delivery monitoring and NSW Gateway. Notably, he was part of the team that developed the 2008-2018 10-year State Infrastructure Strategy and won the 2013 Leadership Award for the release of the NSW Treasury, Risk Management Toolkit for Public Sector Agencies.

 Col Thorne has decades of Defence and project management experience having joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1981 as an Engineer Cadet. He was the Director General of Aerospace Maritime and Surveillance Systems and prior to this, the Officer Commanding Maritime Patrol Systems Program Office.

Thomas W Smith

Program Director, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Department of Engineering Professional Development, was a member of the U.S. Delegation to the ISO 55000 Standards Committee and a task group leader. He is the author of a chapter on the standard for The New Physical Asset Management Handbook and a member of the Faculty of the Institute of Asset Management.
