  • 2019 off to a great start for our Perth Chapter

    Header PhotoThank you to Water Corporation who hosted our Perth Chapter event last Thursday. Pictured on the left are David Seaton, Tino Galati, Jakob Verhoef, Karen Riddette and Ashley Vincent. It was an excellent event with fantastic speakers, great engagement, tension was high. Carmel Moynihan who won the AOG 2018 Asset Management Competition came to receive her prize.   • AOG 2018 - Australian Oil & Gas Conference: Opportunity for Asset Management Council members

    aogAOG 2018 will be held 14-16 March 2018 in Perth, WA. The AMC’s WA Chapter has once again partnered with the organisers (Diversified Communications Australia) to organise a session at the AOG’s Knowledge Forum on the topic of “Asset Management – Improving Asset Performance”.

    AMC members have the opportunity to benefit from this in two ways:

    AMC Perth Nov a1The WA Chapter finished the technical sessions year with a fantastic evening attracting interest from 65 asset management practitioners with which the session exceeded all expectations - standing room only! A great show of interest and support for Asset Management in the West.

    After a brief introduction, Sandy Dunn shared the difference between Asset Management capability, compliance and maturity. Next was Ernst Krauss sharing his research on understanding the value of asset management. Keen inerest and discussions continued into the following networking opportunity, where most people stayed to catch up with old acquaintances and to make some new ones.   • Perth and the Three C's (Certification and Corrosion at Curtin)

    IMG 0616It was a full house for Perth last Thursday as the Chapter collaborated with Curtin University for an informative technical event. First up was Andrei Ezergailis, ASC Pty Ltd's CCSM LifCycle Manager, to go over ASC's journey to ISO55001's certification and the lessons learned from it. Next was Curtin's very own senior research fellow from their Faculty of Science and Engineering, Katerina Lepkova, to address the latest developments in corrosion protection measures.

  • Perth Chapter Corporate Members Breakfast

    The Perth Chapter hosted a breakfast event for our valued corporate members this morning. This was an important opportunity to connect with our corporate member representatives and to provide an update on some of the Council’s initiatives and activities during the year. We also gained feedback and direction which will be invaluable in helping us plan local Chapter events for 2022. A big thank you to Dave Daines and Dr Carla Boehl for presenting at the event and our corporate member rep's for their input.

    Asset Management Approaches in Rail Infrastructure

    With the expansion of rail infrastructure in Western Australia, effective asset management will become a focus for the industry. Join the AMCouncil Perth Chapter for some insights into applying an asset management approach during delivery and operation of rail infrastructure.

    The event will conclude with a panel session to further discuss the presentation themes.
  • Perth Chapter End of Year Function - 8 December 21

    Hosted by the Perth Chapter Chair, Dr Carla Boehl, the evening will begin with an introduction to the WA Committee, followed by a year in review reflection by Committee Members. Come on and join us, let the guard down, have a chat and wonder what the next year will bring. Finger food and selection of drinks (beer/wine/soft drinks) provided. Hope to see you there.

  • Perth Chapter end-of-year celebration

    Perth Chap Dec 20 7Last Thursday, the Perth Chapter celebrated the end of 2020 with a full house at Lot Twenty in a balmy 33 degrees with high humidity. Everyone enjoyed themselves, with representatives from government, oil & gas, mining and rail/transportation industries. Members from local academia also were represented. Food and drinks were enjoyed by all & everyone shared their excitement of what the New Year will bring.     IMG 0472The first presentation from Perth's latest rail themed technical event was well received with the unanimous opinion that the presenter, Kyle Saltmarsh, delivered a technical presentation on 'Acoustic Condition Monitoring' in a manner that was engaging, entertaining and easy to understand.

  • Perth Chapter Session Recap - Artificial Intelligence in Asset Management

    Wednesday 25 August saw the Perth chapter hold a much anticipated and fully booked out face-to-face event at the offices of Arup (thanks, Arup!) with a 4-part technical seminar themed all around artificial intelligence in asset management.

    The audience were treated to presentations on digital transformation and digital twins; enabling sustainable cities; rapid ROI realisation using an automated AI platform; and applying computer vision to detect identification in pipes.

  • Perth Chapter Session Recap - Asset Management within the Water Corporation

    Our Perth Chapter kicked off their 2021 schedule of events with an in depth look at asset management from Water Corporation's perspective. First at the lecturn were Jakob Verhoef (Principal In Service Assets Regional) and John Nazimek (Principal In Service Assets Metro) who shared how Water Corporation is improving their understanding of risk across a wide range of assets. They explained how Water Corporation is using data to prioritise asset renewals and shared their journey developing Asset Class Management Plans.

  • Perth crowns 2019 WA Asset Management Guru of the Year

    3A great turn out to the Perth Chapter event last week and a tremendous amount of support for up and coming young asset management practitioners (YAMP) into the industry. Thanks to Work Management Solutions for sponsoring the event, and a special mention to the following YAMP contributors who shared their industry experiences and challenges within asset management to date from a personal perspective: Ugur Azak; Abei Ding; Jorge Preciado; Mitchell Khaw; and Elizabeth White.

    DSC09566What a great turnout at Perth's latest chapter event with AMCouncil members from all over the country coming together to hear from Ian Sedgwick as he shared his knowledge and approach to Asset Management, focusing on the importance of balancing key elements within Asset Management. The second part of an evening proved more of a celebration of 2018. Congratulations to Tristan Velnoweth, who won the quiz and brought home the title 'WA Asset Management Guru of the Year'.
