Looking Back: Progresses and Achievements 2006-2010
It was in 2010 that the Asset Management Council completed the long-planned process of becoming a Company limited by Guarantee, heralding a change in the name, vision, mission and objectives of the organisation. For five years leading up to this change, the Asset Management Council focused on effectively representing the asset management communities’ growing need to evaluate and improve their capabilities in their working environment by introducing various technical services and programs.
During this period, the Asset Management Council made significant progresses and achievements in many areas of the business, reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting our members and the wider asset management communities’ technical and professional needs:
- 15% increase in Asset Management Council member numbers
- Significant national and international links, particularly as a co-founder of the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management
- Increase in participation rate in National Technical Teams, from 5 to 30 members
- Over 1000 certificates issued to attendees to the Asset Management Fundamentals course
- Development and implementation of the Asset Management Certification Scheme
- Development of a fully functioning website with a members-only section
Strategic Report 2011-2015
We enter 2011 with our new name, vision, mission and objectives, and a continued momentum and commitment to build individual and organisation asset capability. Marking the beginning of this exciting new phase, we are pleased to announce the release of our Strategic Report for 2011-2015.
We are an organisation driven by our members, and it is our members’ aspirations and needs that have provided critical input into our Strategic Plan for 2011-2015. This strategic report details a plan for our members, including our strategies, key priorities and agreed upon actions required to achieve our plan for expansion and growth during 2011-2015. I would like to thank all our members who contributed to the development and draft Strategic Plan phase.
The Strategic Report 2011-2015 is available for members as an online version on the members-only area of the Asset Management Council website. Non-members can purchase an online version for $5 (AUD) at our online store.
With the guidance of the Asset Management Council Board and Chief Executive Officer, I encourage our members, office bearers and staff to help us achieve the strategies outlined in the plan over the next five years.
Board Meeting
On Tuesday 8 February, the Asset Management Council Board convened in Melbourne for its first face-to-face meeting for 2011. In addition to approving the Strategic Plan for 2011–2015, the Board also approved the Nominating Committee process; a process which aims to effectively identify suitable persons with the needed capability to act as a member of the Asset Management Council Board. The Board agreed that the Finance/Audit and Risk Committee is to be established as a fully functioning Asset Management Council sub-committee by May 2011.
