ISO 55001 ‘Requirements – asset management system’- ASSESSOR REQUIREMENTS
The Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM), of which both the IAM and AM Council are members, is developing a specification that describes the requirements for an auditor who undertakes an audit based upon the requirements of ISO 55001. With this in mind:
1. Firstly – What might you and your organisation want from such an assessment or audit , beyond compliance to the standard, if anything?
2. Secondly – What skills and competencies might you and your organisation want from auditors, beyond the ability to undertake an asset management assessment to ISO 55001?
3. Thirdly – What type of person would you be comfortable with to undertake such an assessment, for example:
a. Have a background in asset management, at what level and with what experience?
b. Have a technical background, at what level and with what experience?
c. Have a general business background, at what level and with what experience?
d. Have a background in your industry, at what level and with what experience?
