Andrew Morgan
Andrew Morgan is an Associate Director with Oyster Consulting with over 20 year’s experience in the mining and minerals resources sector in Australia and overseas. He has experience covering engineering, project management, operations and maintenance, and management consulting. Prior to joining Oyster, Andrew worked with Hatch Associates in management consulting and prior to this with Rio Tinto for over 20 years in Engineering and Operating business units. Through having “been there”, Andrew has developed extensive experience and expertise in line management and support in operations, maintenance and strategic support, maintenance system implementations and maintenance auditing, business process design, reliability and equipment strategy analyses, and industry strategic research.
Andrew has led maintenance and support teams in line operations roles in large mineral processing operations. His operations experience combined with a strong background in design engineering, construction and project management has assisted in leading operations teams through the commissioning and run-up of new process plant and equipment and in making significant improvements to the maintainability and operability of these installations through design, construction, commissioning and operation.
Andrew has also established organization wide asset risk management programs, working with multiple mining companies and local regulatory bodies to develop specific processes to manage operational and structural risks issues associated with large mobile materials handling equipment.
As a professional society, Andrew sees MESA and the AMC as ideally positioned to becoming a leading authority and mentor as the discipline of “asset management” comes of age. Becoming truly representative of its members is the best way to progress their interests and professional capabilities and this needs to be a primary focus for MESA and the AMC.
