Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMPs) are required to comply with ISO 55001 ensuring a clear translation of Organisational & Asset Management objectives into Asset Management plans.

Keeping pace in rapidly changing environment can present challenges, how do we ensure SAMPs are Useful, Useable and Used?

The selected panel of Asset Management Senior Leaders will give an overview of their organisation context, discuss challenges and methods they are utilising to keep SAMPs relevant in Dynamic environments. It will be a face-to-face event where attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions relevant to them and they’re organisations.

What does having a SAMP actually involve? It’s different for different organisations and in such a dynamic world where organisations need to be resilient and flexible, how can organisations meet ISO requirements and the needs of their business?  Attendees will gain insights to how these organisations have approached keeping SAMPs in dynamic environments relevant. We hope the discussion will invoke further thought and deep evaluation of how Asset Management organisations can apply different approaches to suit their business models, meet ISO standards, have SAMPs that are Useful, Useable & Used in such a rapidly changing world!

Adam Rotapel, Manager Engineering, Assets and Project Delivery, KPMG

Adam is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Asset Management professional with over 13 years of experience within transport, property, utilities, mining, defence and other civil infrastructure sectors. Adam is a Manager in KPMG’s Engineering, Assets and Project Delivery practice providing strategic asset management solutions and business improvement to asset intensive organisations. Adam has been involved in all phases of infrastructure development from asset investment planning and decision making through to detailed design management and capital project delivery. Adam is passionate about applying his broad knowledge of engineering, project delivery and asset management to improve organisational alignment and asset management efficiency. Adam has extensive technical knowledge supporting his understanding of civil infrastructure assets including stormwater drainage, potable water, waste water, power, gas, telecommunications, road geometry, pavements and geotechnical.

Therese Brooks, Senior Consultant, Engineering, Assets and Project Delivery, KPMG

Therese is a Chartered Engineer and Asset Management professional based in Perth. Her 10-year career spans government and consulting in both Western Australia and Queensland.  Therese brings a detailed understanding of asset management, operations and maintenance, while also supporting strategic asset management planning initiatives.  She particularly enjoys helping clients make informed asset decisions and achieve value from their asset base across the whole lifecycle.  

Andrew Goodwin, Practice Lead AM Strategic Planning – Senior RioExpert, Rio Tinto (D&T)

Andrew has built strength and recognition in a hidden capability in systems thinking, design and management, leading the AM systems function for Rio Tinto, culminating in design, deployment, operation, management and improvement of the ISO 55001 certified Rio Tinto AM System for an intangible asset, the Rio Tinto AM Body of Knowledge.  This work was awarded the 2021 Asset Management Council Excellence Award for Innovation in AM for the work in AM Systems in Rio Tinto.

Andrew has been acknowledged and recognised as a Senior RioExpert in Asset Management.  Andrew is a technical influencer, a driver of technical know-how and a thought leader, highly visible proactive knowledge sharer, collaborator and mentor who fosters growth and development within the Asset Management community.

Bikash Mohanty, Senior Advisor Strategic Asset Planning, Rio Tinto Iron Ore

Bikash is an Asset Management Professional will more than 10 years’ experience in the Mining Industry.

He is passionate about Asset Management, Strategy and Business Improvement.

Starting as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in Rio Tinto Iron Ore he has worked in FIFO Roles at Cape Lambert Port Operations, Marandoo and Greater Brockman for 6 years and 4 years in Perth Based roles.

In this time he has managed to work in construction/commissioning of Wet Plant, Delivering Sustaining Capital Projects, Fixed Plant Reliability Engineering, Plant Maintenance, Business Transformation program and currently working in AM Strategy focusing on delivering SAMP and AMP.

Ankur Maheshwari, Associate Director, Asset Management, AMCL

Ankur Maheshwari is a highly experienced seasoned asset management professional with over three decades of experience in wide range of techno commercial aspects of asset management in utility, manufacturing and industrial sectors.  His specialist experience includes strategic, tactical and operational management of assets with high safety, environmental and customer impacts.  He is a asset management specialist with experience from engineering through to executive management.  He has led from the front influencing the direction of technical and economic regulation in state owned utilities.  He is an active member of world forums such as CIGRE.  He has led multinational working groups leading to publication of CIGRE literature such as technical brochures and Green Book publications.  He has authored many papers and delivered numerous tutorials and presentations on asset management of utility assets.  He is currently the Chair of West Australian Chapter of Asset Management Council in Australia. 

Ankur has hands-on experience in envisioning, leading the development of and maintaining asset management and electricity network safety management systems compliant with ISO55001, ISO31000 and AS5577.  He is a transformational leader and experienced in maturity assessment, road mapping and implementation of continual improvement initiatives using agile approach.  He is highly regarded for his experience in applying quantitative risk management approach to drive cost and service performance of assets aligned to organizational objectives.
